Boldin will perform the world premiere of “In Arkadia,†a new work for horn and harp by internationally recognized composer Gary Schocker. Boldin will collaborate with Dr. Jaymee Haefner, a member of the faculty at the University of North Texas, for the performance.
“It is always an honor to perform at a major international conference, but this one is particularly exciting for two reasons: first, it will be the first public performance of a brand new work, and second, I commissioned the piece being performed,†Boldin said.
Haefner and Boldin collaborated on a recording project in 2012, and shortly thereafter discussed plans to commission a new work for horn and harp, which was, according to Boldin,ج “A versatile but under-recognized medium.â€
The symposium’s theme is “Then and Nowâ€â€”a celebration and reflection of the horn’s role across time.ج
“Thanks to generous assistance from the International Horn Society’s Meir Rimon Commissioning Assistance Fund, and ذكذكتسئµâ€™s College of Arts, Education, and Sciences Mini-Grant Program, we were able to work with composer Gary Schocker to create a significant addition to the existing repertoire for horn and harp,†continued Boldin. ج
