ذكذكتسئµ received a $179,830 grant on Monday, Feb. 4, 2019, from Public Service Commissioner Foster Campbell. The grant will fund installation of high-efficiency LED lights in some ذكذكتسئµ buildings.

“These improvements will lower electric bills by thousands of dollars,â€‌ Campbell said.

“We are grateful to Commissioner Campbell and the Energy Efficiency Program for allowing us to be involved in something which will help the university and help the environment,â€‌ said ذكذكتسئµ President Nick J. Bruno. “We are always looking for creative ways to make the university operations more efficient.â€‌

The LPSC Energy Efficiency Program for public entities and political subdivisions is an offshoot of the commission’s “Quick Startâ€‌ Energy Efficiency program, which has helped residential and commercial utility customers lower their electricity consumption across Louisiana. Participating utilities are SWEPCO, Entergy and CLECO.

“Energy efficiency is a cost-effective way to reduce energy costs, improve building comfort and preserve our environment,â€‌ Campbell said.

Grants were also given to the city of Monroe, $111,282 and Grambling State University, $462,508.
