The Computer Science program at the University of Louisiana Monroe completed a rigorous accreditation process through the Accrediting Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc. (ABET) and received accreditation through the year 2026.

The accrediting body found no deficiencies, weaknesses, or concerns throughout the process, which is a significant accomplishment, according to Jose Cordova, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Computer Science.

The Computer Science program in the 羞羞视频 College of Business and Social Sciences was established in 1984 and was first accredited in 1986.

听

鈥淎BET accreditation is an important recognition of the overall quality of the program and its compliance with various professional standards, including faculty credentials, curriculum, equipment, and continuous improvement processes,鈥� stated Cordova.

There are 136 students enrolled in the Computer Science program at 羞羞视频 for the spring 2021 semester. The program is in the Top 10 majors that 羞羞视频 undergraduate students pursue.

The top employers of 羞羞视频 computer science graduates are Lumen, IBM, Vantage Health Plan, and Praeses.

鈥淚n the last few years, Computer Science at 羞羞视频 has experienced a significant growth in enrollment as students realize the enormous potential and variety of careers available to Computer Science graduates.听The demand for software application developers and related positions continues to grow at a time when technology becomes more and more important in everyone's lives,鈥� Cordova said.

About the accrediting process

听

Serving on the accreditation committee were Cordova and other members of the Computer Science faculty.

听

The accrediting process starts with the preparation of a self-study report that provides evidence of compliance with various accreditation standards.听

听

A few months after the report is submitted, a team of ABET program evaluators visited 羞羞视频鈥檚 campus and met with faculty, students, administrators, industry partners, and staff members.听

听

After the visit, the ABET team submitted an initial report.听The final accreditation decision was made by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET at its annual meeting.

听
