CBSS Symposium

MONROE, LA – ذكذكتسئµâ€™s premier lecture and seminar series, the CBSS Symposium will be held September 26-29. The theme for 2022 is “Resilience: Moving Forward.â€‌ This year’s event will feature career readiness seminars, a networking event, a career fair, a cookout, various speaker sessions, the annual CBSS Brain Bowl and a keynote address by Molly Bloom, bestselling author of Molly’s Game.ج‎

“The ذكذكتسئµ College of Business and Social Sciences (CBSS) Symposium is a unique event that is often characterized as a Best Practice by our accrediting bodies for the strong engagement among student learners, faculty, and alumni that occurs during the event,â€‌ said Dr. Michelle McEachern, Dean of the College of Business and Social Sciences. “Personally, it is incredibly rewarding to see that many of our alumni presenters/participants are people who were once our students participating in the CBSS Symposium,â€‌ she added.ج‎ج‎

On Wednesday, September 28 at 6:00 p.m. at Bayou Pointe, there will be a keynote address by Molly Bloom, bestselling author of Molly’s Game, which was adapted into an award-winning film of the same name. Bloom’s memoir chronicles her journey from college student to L.A. waitress to building and operating the largest and most notorious private poker game in the world. Her presentation is titled “Bet on Yourself and You Will Always Win: Overcoming Setbacks.â€‌ The keynote is free and open to the public. The presentation will be followed by a book signing.ج‎ج‎

Cathi Hemed, Director of External Initiatives for ذكذكتسئµâ€™s CBSS, says "We hope her story will not only serve as a cautionary tale, but one of resilience.â€‌ ج‎

The annual CBSS Brain Bowl also takes place on Wednesday, September 28. The Brain Bowl is a CBSS-wide trivia competition with teams representing each School within the College. Each team is made up of three students, one faculty member, and one professional. This year, cash prizes will be awarded to student winners thanks to an anonymous donation from a generous alum. The competition is open to CBSS students. Students may contact their school director for more information.ج‎ج‎
